Hank the Dog gets his own Brewers bobblehead, to the surprise of no one

The list of things the Milwaukee Brewers have given Hank the Dog, the spring training stray turned adopted mascot, includes a new home, a chartered plain ride from Arizona to Wisconsin and more social media buzz than any other rookie in MLB.

Add one more thing: Hank is getting his own bobblehead.

If that’s a surprise, you haven’t paying attention to the rise of Hank the Dog to Brewers pop culture icon. He’s made appearances at the team store, has been plastered on T-shirts and was even greeted by the mayor when he arrived in Milwaukee. Nobody would be surprised if Hank had a reality show by the All-Star Break.

A bobblehead was the next logical step, though. It’s coming Sept. 13 in a game against the Cincinnati Reds. They’re calling his a “BobbleHank” and it’s part of Wisconsin Humane Society Day at Miller Park. The team will donate a portion of ticket sales to the humane society and the Brewers players have agreed to match the donation. The money goes to the “Hank Fund,” which directly helps strays. That’s good news all around.

While we wonder if Hank fatigue will set in by September, we do have to admit, he’s been a much happier story for the Brewers and their fans this spring than the return of Ryan Braun from a PED suspension.
